Devils fans throw beer cans onto the ice after NHL referees disallow New Jersey’s third goal

New Jersey Devils fans were not happy about the referees disallowing a goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs and began throwing beer and other items onto the ice in frustration.

The Maple Leafs, leading 2-0 with 11:07 left in the third quarter against the Devils, a team riding a 13-game winning streak, returned to their locker room to avoid being hit by debris.

Erik Haula, who stuffed it into the back of the net against Toronto, jumped on the ice to tell the fans to stop throwing things so they could resume play.

The first time a goal against the Devils was disallowed by refs came on a Jonas Siegenthaler shot that saw Nathan Bastian interfering with Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray. The referees immediately called it a no-goal.
