A Minnesota man was arrested Monday in connection with the death of his wife, more than two weeks after the woman’s body was found on the side of the road, authorities said.
Angela Marie McClelland, 49, was apparently fatally struck by a vehicle, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said.
Her body was found shortly after 5 a.m. June 25 after someone saw what they thought was a body near a highway intersection in Fort Ripley Township, the sheriff’s office said.
On Monday, her husband, 47-year-old Tony James McClelland, was charged with second-degree murder and criminal vehicular manslaughter, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Has not yet been charged Minneapolis NBC affiliate KARE reported.
The couple lived together in a house in Fort Ripley, a small community of fewer than 100 people about 50 miles north of St. Cloud, according to the sheriff’s office.
He said more information would be released in the coming days.
Online jail records show a court appearance is pending, but did not indicate a date.
A criminal case did not appear to be in court records online, and it was unclear if McClelland had an attorney who could speak on his behalf Tuesday night. There was no response at the phone numbers listed for McClelland.
