A suspect accused of killing four people in a Georgia suburb south of Atlanta on Saturday has been killed following a manhunt, authorities said.
«The monster is dead,» Henry County Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett said at a news conference Sunday afternoon.
Police tracked the suspect to a location in the area and exchanged fire with the suspect twice before he was «neutralized» and ultimately pronounced dead, the sheriff said.
Authorities were searching for Andre Longmore, 40, after obtaining four murder warrants for him in connection with the shooting.
Authorities said Longmore shot and killed three men and a woman in Hampton around 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Two law enforcement officers who responded to the attacks were injured on Saturday. Scandrett mentioned officers injured Sunday, but it was not immediately clear if he was talking about those two or possibly other officers involved in Sunday’s confrontation.
The initial violence and shootings on Sunday were under investigation.
